Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science is looking for a book review editor
The journal Zygon: Journal of Religion and Science is looking for a new book review editor. The book review editor should ensure that we have a range of book reviews in each issue, both brief announcements and longer reviews. Books and announcements come in to the office in Chicago, but in our time, we can easily arrange for collaboration at a distance, supported by the staff at the office and the ManuscriptCentral online submission site. For each issue, we currently reserve up to ten pages for reviews. Occasionally, the journal has a book symposium, a set of invited articles related to a single major title in the field (e.g. in 2016 on works by Peter Harrison and by Catherine Keller).
The book review editor
Selects books for reviews (from those received, or otherwise)
Selects and invites reviewers, and occasionally writes reviews
Evaluates submitted reviews and allocates these to an issue.
The job requires commitment as it needs regular follow up, a sound sense of quality and relevance, and knowledge of relevant academic circles, topics and potential reviewers. The journal does not give the editor or the book review editor financial compensation.
Expressions of interest, accompanied by one review or other written piece and about three suggestions of recent titles the journal should consider for review, can be sent not later than March 31, 2017, to the editor of Zygon, prof.dr. Willem B. Drees, firstname.lastname@example.org, who can also be approached for information.
